The Organic Whey review

I have tried other “natural” and organic whey powders.  I know many love Jay Robb’s but I couldn’t stand any of them.  I seriously would take a sip and throw it out.   I decided to give The Organic Whey a try.  I was leary again when Hassna told me not to expect a flavorful whey powder.  They want to keep the whey as raw and pure as possible.

.

This morning I decide to put a bit in my protein pancakes.  I licked a bit of the powder and it didn’t make me gag.  It actually has a mild vanilla flavor in my opinion.  Click HERE to view the nutritional stats.

.

For my PWO meal I made protein ice cream with it.  It turned out really good.  The powder isn’t chalky or gritty at all.  I guess that’s what all natural is suppose to be :)   I go on kicks where I want all natural, but then the next month i’m chugging chemicals that I can’t pronounce down my throat.  It’s nice to know  there is a whey powder out there that IS all natural and tastes great too!

  • 28g The Organic Whey protein powder
  • 1/2 cup of water or almond milk
  • 1/4 tsp guar gum
  • 1/4 tsp xantham gum
  • 1 pkt stevia
  • 6 ice cubes

Combine ingredients and blend!  Tomorrow I may put a bit of instant coffee in there..YUM!

.

Little tastes of Nuts Online

While on our road trip we enjoyed snacking on Nuts Online  heart healthy sampler.  It was a tough decision trying to pick what I wanted to review.

In the sampler:

  • chia seeds
  • dried persimmons
  • supreme roasted mixed nuts
  • whole dried cranberries
  • dark chocolate covered almonds
  • organic walnuts
  • organic flax seed
  • gluten free steel cut oats
  • japanese sencha green tea
  • ceylon black tea

—————–

The nuts are gone.  The cranberries i’ve used in my salads and they are very sweet and yummy!  I tried a dried persimmon and it was good too.  I’ve had persimmon pudding but it’s been awhile.  I need to bust open the chia seeds.  These sampler packs ROCK!

    Anxiety of the unknown

Howdy!  I woke up with SUPER sore legs this morning.  I did a leg workout on Monday and immediately couldn’t walk.  It was a goody.  Last night Mike and I took a bike ride.  It was only for about 40 mins but we were hauling.  Mike still can’t believe that I can keep up with him :D   I told him maybe he’s just slow.  He didn’t like that HA!

    .

This morning I timed my breakfast making.  It took 10 mins and this was with microwaving my oats.  I guess I can make them the real way on the weekends.  I’m trying to figure out my next weeks schedule since i’ll be employed again.  Normal people probably wouldn’t be freaking out about this but i’m not normal.  I always start to worrying about things and then they work out then I wonder why I was worrying in the first place.  So I know this will all work out just fine….i’m still worried ;)

    .

Boomer is going to be sad.  She’s so used to me being here.  Luckily Mike can work from home so she’ll have company on some days.

Do you stress about little things?

How long does it take you to make breakfast?

Do you workout before you are off to work?  I typically get in some cardio and lift weights afterwards.

    .

Don’t forget to take advantage of the GOLD RUSH!!!  I better get mine before I forget!!!

    Weekend confessions finale

After the arch we went back to the room.  The guys were intrigued with my Oxygen magazines.

Then it was time for happy hour.  OMG, I haven’t drank that much in I can’t remember when.  I only had 3 beers but I was LIT in a good way.  Typically I overdo it and then I get angry.  I limited myself so it’s all good.  All I could think about was how my metabolism was slowing down and my fat was storing HA!

    Drunk and happy!

After happy hour it was time for the show.  The concert was SOFA KING GOOD!!  The concerts i’ve been to in the past were all about showboating.  The singer thinking they were God’s gift to the earth and nothing is better.  Don’t get me wrong, I had fun at those concerts as well.  Tool is all about good music.  No showboating or running around on stage.  The lead singer(Maynard Keenan) stood on a platform next to the drummer(Danny Carey).  It was so cool.  The bassist and guitarist stood in the front on opposite corners.  The drummer is the BEST drummer IMO.  I can’t believe how fast he moves his feet and arms.

    .

I will be going to more Tool concerts that is for sure.  They have a really good laser light show that is set to the music.  There were people of all sorts of ages there.  There wasn’t much talking by Maynard but he asked how many people were 20 years or younger.  The crowd cheered and he said…then you weren’t born when this next song was written :)   Tool started in 1988 so they’ve been around for awhile.  My favorite song was Aenima.  The crowd was awesome and singing along.  There were true fans there that’s for sure.  This song is not played on the radio.  Sorry for those of you who live in L.A. ;)   Maybe that’s why us mid westerners love it so much?

This is not my video but it is from the show I saw.

This clip will show you the set up a bit better.  It was great!

    .

Angela now you know why I like jamming to them ;)

    .

I yelled FREE BIRD during the concert!  That’s when you KNOW you’re a Hoosier!

    Weekend confessional 2

Somehow I got some energy back.  It has nothing to do with this:

     Prolab - Advanced Caffeine - 60 ea

After eating we ventured into St. Loius.  Justin has never been to the arch so we decided to let him see it.  The roads there are weird so we kept driving around it saying…Hey look kids, there’s Big Ben, and there’s Parliament.

    We eventually made it.

The water was really high from all the rain we’ve been getting.  I say we because after Missouri and Illinois it comes to us YAY!

    .

Have you ever been to St. Loius?  The arch is a photograper’s dream I bet.

    Weekend confessional

Howdy!!  I had an AWESOME weekend!  It was so much fun!  The concert was amazing, the weather was fumid and the little town of St. Charles was super duper cute.  I’ll do short recaps so no one is too bored.

    .

We drove 4 hours to St. Louie. (St. Louis)  Our hotel was Embassy Suites in St. Charles which is where the band stayed!  We didn’t see them there unfortunately.  We got there first and we were all hungry so we asked the lady where a good place to eat was.

The food was great.  I got a smoked pork salad mmmm…..

    FULL

I didn’t drink any beer.  Don’t praise me yet.

The guys wanted to walk around a bit and let their food digest…..GLADLY!!!!!!

I won’t mention the comments that were made about this statue.

More beer…really?  Still none for me.

I wanted to go in here.  That idea was shot down.

A few blocks walked and they were ready for ice cream.  I took a few lick of Mike’s.  ;) hee hee

Potty break!  Don’t mind us, we’re from Indiana.

I wish my mommy was with me.  This is the cutest place.

    …………………..

Okay, i’ll be back with some more weekend recapping.  I am EXTREMELY tired today.  I slept 9 hours and could have slept more last night.  Not to mention I didn’t get my 2 gallons of water in that i’m used to.  I didn’t want to have to squat and pee by the restroom sign ;)

    Cookouts and Road trips

Mike and I had fun at the cookout last night.  It was nice to get out and not be a hermit.  His friends were happy to see me as well.

    We walked hand in hand.

He carried the corn casserole and wasn’t real thrilled about getting his picture taken.  :)   That stuff was GONE afterwards.

    Doing some little mingling.

I would have been happy if I was eating a chocolate cookie too :)

    .

    ROAD TRIP tomorrow!!!

I’m almost out of Quest Bars EEK!!!  These are something I will for sure be ordering.  I will also get to review my Peeled Snacks YUM!

    .

When you fasten your pants do you button first or zip first?  Since i’ve been doing alot of dressing up lately i’ve noticed I button first.

    DON’T FORGET THE GOLD RUSH!!!!

Good news, or bad news, or…..

I actually called potential job 2 yesterday and excepted their offer.  I have waited long enough and i’m afraid they may just say to heck with that girl and that opportunity is gone.  I called this morning again to speak with HR and as I was on the phone job 1 called.  I had to call back and they said they have decided on the other candidate.  Oh well, right?  I have a job so no sweat.  Then they said they would love for me to come in for an interview tomorrow afternoon for another position that just opened up.  Okay??

    .

This is both good and bad I guess.  Good being I don’t think I will have to dress up and also I won’t have to talk and fake nice to others.  So i’ll do my best at interview number 10 tomorrow and see how it goes.  I went and took a drug screen for job 2 this afternoon.  I just hate to let them down or say PSYCH!!

    .

My legs have been KILLING me lately.  I don’t think it’s time for new shoes?  I have to remind myself that my legs have been shattered and it’s been storming like crazy.

    .

I’m going to a cookout tonight.  Me, on a weeknight, doing something out of the ordinary!!  GO ME!  We’re going to walk to Mike’s friends who live maybe a mile away.  I’m making corn casserole because Mike’s friends love that stuff.

2 more days and i’ll be on a ROAD TRIP to St. Louis!!  I can’t wait.  Okay, i’d be lying of I said I wasn’t VERY anxious about it.  I’m going to enjoy myself regardless.  Tool rocks!!

    .

Which is worse? Being under age or being over the hill?  I’m going to stay under age is worse.  I don’t know about you but i’ve learned alot getting older.

    Things to check!

Check out a giveaway HERE and HERE!!!!!

Also, speaking of over the hill, and I mean that in a GOOD way.  Check out Jody’s write up!

    What’s in the box??

Oh Brad, I wish you were.

    .

I love when the UPS man leaves boxes on my doorstep and I haven’t a clue what they will be.  It’s like having a Secret Santa.  Well this present was a gift from OpenSky.  When I opened it up I was super excited because I had JUST about bought some new EVOO at the store.

I am not a huge garlic fan but I do like it when it’s subtle.  I am also not a lemon fan.  When I saw the Garlic Gold® Meyer Lemon Vinegarette I was like well….at least it was free ;)   I decided to give it a whirl.  I had my salad with goat cheese(of course) and added 1 tbsp of the vinegarette which btw doesn’t have vinegar in it.  I’m not kidding you when I say it’s better than ANY salad dressing i’ve ever had.  It’s SO flavorful and i’m not a BIG fan of lemons and garlic.  I can’t even explain it but i’ll NEVER eat my salads at home without it.  I sauteed my shrimp with the EVOO…YUMMY!

You will be able to get the Garlic Gold® Meyer Lemon Vinegarette in my OpenSky shop on Friday!!!

    .

I woke up this morning and hopped on the treadmill for 30 mins.  My legs are super sore but I made it through the pain.  Then Boomer and I went on a walk.  Holy smokes, my Final Clean Corp t-shirt was SOAKED when I got back.  I also worked my chesticles and did running intervals.

    .

I’m not one to sit down and watch TV.  I’ve mentioned that before.  Well after my heat stroke I sat on the couch and watched a Lifetime Movie called Amish Grace.  I’m not a crier and I was crying.  It really touched me.  I think I want to be Amish now.  That means no blog though???

    .

There are a few Ruby birthday out there.  I just made it…July 31st :)   I’ll be 29 again!

    .

Would you rather be a trashman or a proctologist?  I know Drs. make good money but no thanks.  Plus being a trashman would be a great workout!

Still no word on the job front.  It’s between me and another person.  It started with 10 so I should be happy to be in the final 2 I guess.

    Got sweat?

I’m a sweaty beast.  I don’t glisten I sweat.  I get it from my dad. Remember my after workout pictures?

    Exhibit A:

    Exhibit B:

    Insert Bondiband:

I will say that I did not have one sting of sweat drip in my eye!

Now if they could only manufacture a BondiBODYband i’d be set ;)

People often ask,“I love my Bondi Band, but how do I wear it?”

The answer is, there is no proper way to wear a Bondi Band. Some people wear them rolled, others fold them in half, but most wear them wide open. Try different styles for yourself and see what you like the best.

    Traditional Method:

    1. Put headband on and pull out hair from back

    2. Pull up from top of fabric, until above eyebrows and over ears

    3. Fold back of headband under, and leave the front FLAT

    4. Relax and look cool caring for your Bondi Band

    Hand Wash and Hang Dry

All of our products are proudly Made In Maine!

    .

    What to do?

What do you do when it’s storming like a mother and you can’t get back to sleep?  We are having storm after storm and now there are sinkholes, strip mall fires, and flooding.  It’s this Okalahoma or Kansas?  The weather this year is so odd.

New Madrid, MO - I took this over the the corn field between the grave yard and the over pass North of New Madrid 6/13/08 thunderstorm.

So what did I do?  I immediately came down and hit the on button to my coffee maker.  I made sure the coffee was made in case the power went out again…priorites.  Then I was bored so I got on the treadmill for 40 mins.  I didn’t go super fast in case the power went out and I had to jump on the sides for dear life.  It was actually relaxing.  I did 3.5/6.5 for 1 mins each.  Then at min 30 I cranked it up to 10% incline and walked at 4.0.  My buns are already sore from my KILLER leg workout yesterday.  It kept my heart thumpin the entire time.

    .

Thanks for all your kind thoughts, texts and emails about my interview :)   It went well…again.  I interviewed with 5 other people AND went home and had a phone interview.  I’m trying to stay positive.  I know they are interviewing 1 more person today.  I told my neighbor and I like the way she put it.  She said they have to interview someone else just in case I turn down the position.  That made me feel better and I know if it was meant to be it will be.  Things have really been happening in our favor lately so hopefully this will fall into place as well.

    .

Here comes another storm…no worries.  I will see a rainbow soon.

    .

What is the last thing you ate?  I just finished my oatmeal sandwich.

    .

What is your birthstone?  Mine is Ruby.  My birthday is in July.  One plus about this new job if I get it is they give you your birthday off!!

    Trying not to poop myself

This is me right now.  I have my second interview in a couple of hours.  I shouldn’t be as nervous since it’s with the ladies i’ll be working with.  GAH!  That makes me more nervous.

    .

I’m so afraid that soon they are going to cut off my unemployment.  I’ve been on it since March of ’09 for pete’s sake.  It is kind of a good thing.  People who AREN’T like me and really looking and getting a job have abused the system for a long time.  I wish I would have known about it sooner.  Then I could just live jobless and get paid from the state.  No really, I was raised much better than that.  I really think i’m going crazy.

    .

I’ve had a good but HOT weekend.  Boomer and I had some nice long walks in the early mornings when it was cooler.  Then Saturday I did Cathe’s Athletic Step again.  I have a product review coming up so i’ll talk about that some other time.  Yesterday I did Cathe’s Drill Max.  I really LOVE that one.  It’s a good one to throw in when you are burnt out from running or ellipticalling(word?).  There is also this move called firewalkers.  Kelly O you know what i’m sayin’.  These are a love/hate thing.

Oh, you think that looks simple?  Looks can be deceiving.

Last night Mike and I went for an hour bike ride.  We love doing that together.  I love the fact that when we are going up hills I pass him.  He’s told me he can’t believe how i’m able to keep up with him and thinks biking is my calling.  As I pass him up the hills I taunt him by saying things like, yeah the squats and lunges are paying off.  Or, go ahead and make fun of me for doing step aerobics.  He’s so competitive at everything it’s not even funny.

    .

Are you competitive?  I’m wouldn’t consider myself competitive.  However, when I REALLY want something i’ll go after it like a fat kid attacking cake.  My downfall is after I get it I often don’t want it anymore.  It’s really a competition within myself.

    Porch life is for me

So I didn’t eat the forbidden cookie.  *pat on back*  Here is Mike savoring it.

On Saturday Mike had some guys over and they grilled out.  I just made my shrimp and cabbage mixture Pauline style.  It was so yummy!  They had went to a butcher shop and got their meat.  Mike and I will be going back there because they were really friendly and cheap.  So remember how proud of myself I was for not eating “the” cookie?  I did this:

Yes, that is a Summer Shandy.  That is a great beer.  Mike loves them and I had to try one.  I have proclaimed that I don’t drink anymore because it’s NOT worth it.  The slowing of your metabolism, the stupid decisions you make and for me the RAGE and BARFIGHTS you get into.  I will admit after it I was in a great mood ;)   Unfortunately I couldn’t tell you if I had 7 or 70 blue chips HA!  Luckily the guys finished them off.

Here they are watching Blades Of Glory.  I’m at the computer keeping tabs on Junior Nationals.  Becca got 4th in bikini and Tara got 5th in figure WOOHOO!  They ended up going to Wolfies.  My new “goto” restaurant.  At night they have cornhole tournaments and drink specials.  When I woke up this morning  2 of the guys were sleeping on my couch.  Ugh…that threw off my routine.  Boomer and I took a walk and I enjoyed my breakfast on my porch.

    .

Before Mike and I moved here I had always wanted a porch.  We watched movies and I would always mention if there was a porch.  Mike vowed that one day I would have a porch :)   Now we’ll still watch movies and i’ll say “I wish I had a porch” he responds, sorry I suck and you’ll never have one ;)

Happy Dad’s Day!!  Because who really calls them Father?  Do you?  I actually call my dad, Dude.  He likes it.

Do you have  a porch?  We need to get some porch furniture.  We have our redneck chairs out right now.

Have you had Summer Shandy?  It’s pretty good.  It’s suppose to have a hint of lemon flavor but I didn’t taste it.

Confession….after keeping tabs on the competition this weekend i’m getting the bug.  For those of you who have competed you know what i’m talking about.  I always tell myself never again but it’s so fun!!

To eat or not to eat…

I had a Barnies gift card that Mike had gotten me maybe 10 years ago.  Our store here is closing so I thought I had better use it.  When I handed it to them they laughed.  They said they haven’t seen one of those in YEARS.  I told them i’ve had it for awhile.  There was no way for them to swipe it so they let me have my iced coffee for free.  Then he told me I could pick a muffin out to if I wanted.  I chose this cookie with Mike in mind.

All the way home I thought about taking a little nibble.  I knew that one nibble would lead to another and i’m feeling leaner so why destroy what i’ve done?  I had also purchased another suit for my interview Monday and I need to fit into it!

    $280.00 suit for $75!!!

    .

    Time for lunch!!

Now it’s time for lunch ;)   I love pickles!!

Into the freezer you go!  You will not defeat me!!

    .

Now it’s time to work my back and abs.

What workout are you doing today?  I walked Boomer for 40 mins this morning and did 30 on my treadmill.  I’ll probably do another 25 with my workout and Mike and I are going for a bike ride later :D

    .

Good Luck to Becca and Genie!!!!!!!  Also to my friend Tara Green.  They are doing Junior Nationals tonight and hopefully tomorrow!!  It’s in Chicago.

    It’s all in your head

Howdy peeps!  I woke up this morning and got on my treadmill despite only having 3 channels to watch.  My morning Married With Children did not happen :(   I need to go to the nearest Comcast place and get some black boxes for my TV’s.  We had more channels until a worker came out messing with the cable boxes yesterday.  Ugh…if all fails I guess I can get a job their since it seems you don’t need to know what you’re doing.  I put on my MP3 player and I think music actually helps me to push and run faster.  Do you think music helps you?

    .

I read something on Tina’s blog the other day and it’s helped improve my workouts.  Your mind is such a big part in weightloss and getting your body where it needs to be.

***How about we stop using the word BODY FAT (which I do as well) and start using the word STORED ENERGY- because that really is what body fat is.

Since i’ve thought of the fat as stored energy I swear my energy and workouts have improved.  I feel I can go harder or faster because my butt and hips have a lot of stored energy.  Hey, it works for me okay ;)

    .

I had chocolate syrup on my oatmeal sandwich this morning.  I used 1tsp of coconut oil and unsweetened cocoa powder which I did not measure.  It was tasty!  I finally found my favorite cocoa powder.

    YUMBLES!!

    .

Do you like dark chocolate?  Mike and I both LOVE the dark stuff.  That reminds me, last night I had 1 pretzel M&M.  Have you had them?  It was so good!

    Falafel Flamous Brand Chips review

I was pleased to receive 2 bags of Flamous Brands Falafel Chips.  I received 2 flavors, orginal and spicy.

    original Spicy
    • Spicy Falafel Chip. The chip is a blend of organic vegetables and herbs, including beet root, marjoram, parsley, red chili pepper, spinach, carrot, tomato, celery, red bell pepper, onion, garlic and ginger, topped off with just the right amount of jalapeño chile, plus sea salt.
    • Organic Falafel Chips.  The organic blend includes the corn and chickpeas plus basil, carrot, celery, cumin, coriander, garlic, ginger, green bell pepper, marjoram, onion, parsley, red bell pepper, tomato, spinach and white pepper, plus sea salt.

I actually thought the original flavor was spicier.  They had a great crunch and texture as well.  Mike asked me to find somewhere that sells them.  Our Whole Foods doesn’t carry them, but on Flamous Brands website they have a request form you can give to your grocer.  Remember my husband although eats healthy because I cook for him loves to hate the “healthy” treats I feed him.  These are something you can’t hate.  Check out the fresh and good for you ingredients HERE.  Note the recipe section as well.

    Thanks so much Melanie!!

Our 2 bags are gone :(   Mike loved them so much he finished them off.  Unfortunately for me, the chips didn’t agree with my stomach.  I was sad.  It must be the beans.  Stupid IBS.

    Oh hail, it’s June!

It was just nice and sunny out.  It’s about 85 here today and now we’re about to have a hail storm??  WEIRD weather.

My interview went very well this morning.  The job is basically what I did at my last job before I was laid off.  What did I do?  I scheduled production, ordered components, made sure customers were happy and called MANY suppliers and yelled at them for not delivering their stuff on time.  There’s a lot more to it than that but that is the short version :)   When I was laid off I thought this isn’t the thing I want to do again but this company has this:

We are committed to the health of all our business people. Our facility includes an outdoor walking track and an exercise room outfitted with Nautilus equipment, treadmills, stationary bikes, stair climbers, and an aerobic floor.

That would be a big plus for me :)   No really, the place was nice, I was well qualified and the people were friendly.  I guess it’s just a waiting game now.  I was worn out afterwards.  Trying to remain professional is a struggle for me.  For those of you who REALLY know me, you feel me.

    .

My friend is a mom and CEO of her own company.  We were best buds from kindergarten-senior year in high school.  Then she was married, had a son and did the mom thing.  I went off to work, then college, then into a person who was wasted Wed~Sat who liked to have a good time.  Come to find out we lived less than a mile from each other and reconnected after about 10 years.  When we went to meet up at Starbucks I think we were both trying to act mature.  LOL!  That didn’t last long.  We were quick to turn into our old kindergarten ways where the rest of the world doesn’t exist and we do whatever we want.  Those are the best friends to have :)

Does your spouse or significant other ever say something that makes you melt?  It may sound silly, but last night Mike told me that he is going to learn to like coffee so when we retire so we can get up early, drink our coffee and read the newspaper together.  I just got the biggest smile on my face after that.
