The power of stretching

I did deadlifts Friday.  I ran alot Saturday.  I ran alot Sunday.  Yesterday I did legs.  Something is pulled in the back of my knee.  Why?  I don’t stretch.  There…I said it.  I’m the worst at stretching.  I feel it’s a waste of time until something happens.

I had a terrific shoulder workout with some kick butt intervals this afternoon and a great cardio this morning.  I did it with my hurt knee/hamstring area.  Did I stretch?  Um…a little bit.  It’s nothing a little Tiger Balm won’t cure.  I may not do EMC in the morning but I probably will.  My internal clock is rearing to go at 4:45a these days and I’m excited about cardio!!!!

Alligator meat is VERY lean.  Leaner than bison and elk.  You learn something in the mornings watching the news on the treadmill ;)

It’s one of those days

Mike said I need a hen.  Obviously 10 dozen eggs is ridiculous to him.

Today has been a GREAT day!  The alarm went off at 5:01a.  I closed my eyes after I shut the alarm off.  At 5:03a I decided my butt won’t shrink on it’s own.  So I got down to the treadmill.  I swear after morning workouts I feel the best ever.  I think that’s why I enjoy them so much.

After work I had a KILLER leg workout.  My workouts last week and this week are amazing!!!  I’m loving every minute of it.  Okay, that would be a lie.  I do hate working biceps but I am doing it.

Things are going super on the job front!  I should have my own computer and desk by the end of the week and have my planner status back :D

Do you like baths or showers?  I’m a shower person.  I don’t like bathing in my filth.

What do you do when (you think) no one is looking?  Hmmm….I used to have a spitting habit and I still do it occasionally.  I don’t care who’s looking so I guess that doesn’t count.  Picking my nose is too obvious.  Feel my pecs.  Those are my proudest muscle.  Since I don’t have woman boobs i’m proud of the muscle cleavage i’ve made myself.  You girls that have boobs….you didn’t earn them ;)

I digress….

I’m not sure what that really means but I don’t think i’ve ever used it before so today is the day.  Boomer and I went on our 45 mins walk, run, jog, sprint, pee on a hydrant even though we’re girls, and drink from the reservoir this morning.  It was a nice sweaty one.  I DID eat before that.  Just not on the weekdays on my treadmill with a big litre of water in front of me ;)    I was soaked in sweat.

Ugh…that’s gross.  Then I wondered what my back looked like.

Then I went to Kohl’s to get shoes for work.  Do they even make shoes to walk in anymore that aren’t tone or shape ups?  I mean seriously.  You aren’t conning me into spending $120 for shoes that are suppose to make me think i’m “toning” my legs.  I did end up with these.

I figured I would have burned more calories during my cardio this morning.  I see people who burn 800 calories or 1000 calories and I used to burn 1100 when prepping for my first show doing 3 workouts a day.  Oh well, I guess that’s the way my body rolls.

Empty stomach and intervals

I was asked what kind of cardio I do in the morning.  It really depends on how my legs are feeling but I really try to do interval training.  1 minute fast walk and then one minute run.  It makes the time fly too.  Some days I will do HIIT which I do 1 minute off, 20-30 secs on at full speed.  Why intervals?

Epoc..what is it?

EPOC stands for Excess Postexercise Oxygen Consumption, and it refers to the boost in metabolism, or calories and fat burning, that comes after a workout.

When you train, you burn calories to fuel your muscles, but when you´re done, your body keeps burning more calories and fat than normal.

This is due to the process involved in recovery: after exercise, your body must repair damaged muscle fibers, restock muscle glycogen levels, remove lactic acid from the muscles, etc. All these processes require calories, and a lot of those calories may come from bodyfat.

High Intensity Interval Training boosts EPOC much more than cardio done at one steady intensity level.

Why empty stomach cardio?

So I don’t hurl my food for one.  Another is i’m always in the mindset that my body is burning from my fat stores instead of burning off my food.  I don’t lift weights on an empty stomach.  I need some energy for that.  I’m not lifting pink dumbbells.

16 weeks until Kentucky Muscle!  I did 60 mins of cardio this morning.  I will do my bi/tris tomorrow and Boomer and I will go for our 4 mile run in the morning before the REAL HOT weather presumes.

When do you like to do your cardio?  I do mine right when I get up, then after work I do weights with more intense cardio :)

Payday

I have been getting a measily unemployment check for the past 16 months.  In that time Mike and I were still able to take vacations and buy a kick azz new house.  GO US!  Take that Dave Ramsey.  We are very good with our dough.  We don’t make stupid decisions and if one of us are thinking about doing something stupid(Mike) the other makes him realize it’s a bad idea.

.

I will admit he has done things during my jobless time to help our situation out.  No more BMW, no golf, generic Cheerios, selling his motorcycle wearing Spongebob boxers until there are holes in them, and most of all making me feel comfortable.  What did I do?  Kept Tony, went to Nature’s Pharm alot to buy my goods,  and kept buying my fresh chicken, but I NEVER asked him for money.  I told you all I was selfish and I wasn’t lying.

.

So what am I going to do with my first real paycheck?

  • went to Whole Foods during lunch yesterday(this could be dangerous)
  • buy NON generic paper towels
  • buy REAL Honey Nut Cheerios
  • buy new treadmill shoes(mine are now work shoes)

Fact:  Each 5 mins spent in Whole Foods costs $11.52

I got crack, yes I do

I woke up this morning before the alarm and decided to just wake up with Mike.  He was so happy to see me when he got up.  Usually i’m already on the treadmill.  He never sees me as fit or chubby.  He loves me for me and I am lucky to have him.

When I got home I found a box on my front door!

I thought I was going to have to go a day without it since I ordered it Monday but it arrived today WOOHOO!

Mmmm……Cinnamon Bun is my favorite flavor now.  It used to be Cake Batter.

I did my chest workout cramps and all.  I have 2 years of uterus lining built up.  Sorry for any guys who read this.

I made turkey burgers last night.  I’ve been making them for 3 years.  I get the extra lean from Jennie O.  I made the patties and lets just say I could tell they weren’t extra lean.  They almost smelled like sausage.  They were good!  Especially with almond cheese :)

Have you had this happen?  Can any other expert turkey burger makers tell?

Are you the kind of friend that you would want to have as a friend?  I would have to say I am not.  I don’t have many friends because i’m too selfish of my time.  Those that know and love me understand this though :)

That makes sense

I forgot to mention yesterday at lunch I went to Target!  YIPPEE!  This will make lunch break more fun :)   Today though I walked their walking path.  Just once is 1.25 miles I believe.  I’ll have to borrow Mike’s GPS and make sure.

So this morning Aunt Flo came.  She hasn’t visited in 2 years except I think in May she was here for 2 hours.  This explains my EXTREME tiredness Saturday and my “whoa is me” time.  I feel much better now that I know the reason.

This picture is just wrong.  If you know me you aren’t surprised.  Tonight calls for a protein cake….the old good way.

I got up this morning and did 35 mins of cardio and when I got home I did my shoulder crit.  Crit stands for cardio resistance interval training and I love them!!!!  I’m hoping this type of training will show some amazing results in a few weeks….or months.  You never know with this body.

Another Monday bites the dust

Work went fast today.  I shadowed in the warehouse and then I sat with a lady who makes adjustments to BOM’s and bad cycle counts.  Sounds fun huh?  It’s right up my alley.  I would love to have that job.  Reconciling and yelling at people.  I used to hate it at my old job because they were my friends but this place I have no problem making enemies ;)   No really, i’m not mean to people.

I loved all your comments on my feeling fat post.  I know i’m hard on myself.  Notice I didn’t put up the WHOLE picture.  It’s awful, for real.  For me.  I’m a small person and in 1 week I ballooned and I don’t like it.  I was literally laughing out loud about the bread crumb instead of a muffin top LOL!  This will pass…I just had to vent.

Ahhh…much better

I had energy today!!  I took Boomer for a 45 minute walk/run to the reservoir.  It was a good sweaty one.  I’ll spare you a picture of me all sweaty ;)   Here is Boomer, she was one tired pup.

I found a place for her to get a drink and she actually walked in the water up to her ankles for a little bit.  Okay, do dogs have ankles?  You know what I mean ;)

I felt so good when I got home.  I never walk/run outside but when I do it’s the best workout.  I need to remember that!  When I got back I did a full upper body workout.  Since my back workout was weak Friday and yesterday I did nothing I felt my muscles needed something.  I took a look at my leg workout for tomorrow and HOLY BALLS I am not going to be able to walk Wednesday.  I’m debating on not doing cardio in the morning to let my legs prepare for it.

Mike and I also went and played frisbee golf.  We tried a different course and I didn’t like it as much.  I didn’t have to run as far to get my frisbees.  The last time it took us 1 hour and this time it took us 35 mins.  I did burn 213 cals avg 130 HR and max 161 :D   I told him I wanted to play at the other one from now on.  It’s also by the kick azz Signature Kroger.

Okay, that’s it.  I just wanted you to know i’m feeling better and i’m ready to kick butt this week!  I told Angela, I can either cry about it or do something about it.

My hips don’t lie

I hope you are having a good weekend.  It’s nice here and I should be outside or something.  You know when people ask you what you have planned for the weekend I never thought this would be my plan.

Okay this was taken after the Tool concert but it’s what I did all day yesterday.  I walked Boomer for maybe 20 mins and that’s all the activity I got.  Besides going to Target in the morning ;)

.

I’m trying to figure out if it’s something I ate or what.  My stomach has been in distress after everything I eat it swells up again.   I eat the same things everyday and haven’t had a problem until yesterday.  It could have been the HUGE salad I ate Friday night.  It was good.  Mike ate pizza.

Mmmmm….I normally don’t eat cheese but since i’m getting fatter anyway I thought what the heck.  I know, wrong attitude.

Of course he felt fine yesterday after eating this and wings.  There are 3 pieces in the fridge leftover.

.

I took pictures yesterday for Tony.  I admit I cried afterwards.  How did I get this way again?  I’m chalking it up to medicine for IBS, selling and moving stress, finding a job stress, and possibly the 3 beers I drank this summer.  I felt fine at the Tool concert.   My clothes were fitting things were great and then last week happened.  If I kept track of my weight I would swear I gained 10 lbs last week for real.  My clothes don’t fit and my boobs are big for me ;)

I know it’s hard to tell in this picture but I think I may be a full A. 

Can you say muffin top?  It just really pees me off because I feel like I do so much more than the results I get.

Will I care about this when i’m 50?  Will I ever give my mind a break? 

.

I know this is a crappy post but it’s mostly for me to remember where I was at this time.  First week back to work and i’m not looking back.  My life is coming together so I know my body will too.

This is the first Friday i’ve deserved in a long time :D

Im So Tired

I did 38 mins on the treadmill this morning and felt okay during it.  I came home after work and TRIED to do my back workout.  I just didn’t have any energy.  Then I TRIED to do the ending cardio.  I did 12 mins and couldn’t finish.  Maybe I just need to get used to my new schedule or i’m fighting off a sickness?  I hope whatever it is passes soon.

Do you ever have those days where you just don’t have energy?  What do you do?  I’m drinking my coffee toffee twisted frosty right now and then i’m going to plop on the couch.  I sort of feel bad since Mike is out mowing in the HOTNESS.

Staying busy

Hey peeps!  I’ve been busy lately.  Well, busy in my world.  I had forgotten what it’s like to work 8 hours, keep your house clean, make dinner and prep your meals.  I have found if I make my breakfast the night before I have more time in the morning.  Then there is that thing of fitting 2 workouts in a day.  Wow, i’m beat!

The job is still going good.  I’ve been shadowing alot of people and learning different things.  My boss is in NC this week because they opened another business there.  I can’t wait until he’s back next week so he can point me in the right direction on what I should be doing.  Today was the bible study day.  You get an hour lunch regardless of if you go or not.  They cater food in every Thursday and you get 3 breaks that day.  They really treat their employees great.

I wore a pair of jeans that I wore on Monday again today.  I swear they are tighter.  I just don’t know what’s happening with my body but I can’t give up.  I told Tony I think it’s the yogurt.  It may be mental but I swear when I eat it I get fat.  I’m not talking bloated i’m talking muffin top.  So he gave me something to put in it’s place.

I’m drinking half a Kombucha right now :D

It’s a small world

I woke up this morning and went straight to the treadmill.  I wore jeans yesterday and lets just say that fit.  I hated it.  I like my clothing loose so I need to work on that. 

.

Work was fun today.  I guess it’s a special thing to attend the production meeting every Tuesday and I was invited.  I’m also working on a project.  I love projects!  It’s so good to be working and feeling normal again.

At the end of the workday I was headed down an aisle and saw a lady I used to work with!  We hugged and chatted.  It’s nice to know someone there.  There was also a meeting for the entire plant in a special building they have set aside for it.  The meeting started with a prayer.   Afterwards we all got T-shirts and free ice cream :)   No ice cream for me but I was excited about the T-shirt.  Let’s just say there weren’t too many people at the medium size table.  That was the smallest shirt they had.

After work I came home and blasted my shoulders and did some more cardio.

Foot rubs and roses

I made it through my first day of work!  It is SO much better than what I was doing last week.  This place is SUPER fast paced, clean, air conditioned and I can wear yoga pants if I want!  The people weren’t as nice but they’ll get over it.  That or they are too busy for conversation.  Okay, deep down i’m sure it’s because I walked off the street and got my position and they have been there forever.  Again, they’ll get over it.

I came home to a clean house and these:

Then he gave me a foot rub.  He said he’s really proud of me.  I worked HARD to get this job and never gave up.  I’ve said before i’m not a competitive person but when I want something I get it!

This place has bible study luncheons on Thursday and scriptures up on the walls.  It’s really neat and I feel I need this in my life.  I’m not a holy roller but I am a Christian and used to go to church alot.  I haven’t been for at least 12 years so maybe this is a hint that I should start again ;)   After all i’m very lucky to be alive.

Now i’m off to chill on the couch.  We’ll be watching Ateam reruns.  You know, back in the 80′s when girls didn’t have fake boobs and still had chubby faces.  I also love the winged out hair.  Ahh..the days of Aqua Net.

Are there any old shows that you used to watch and love to watch over and over?  I never get sick of Reba.  I know that’s not super old or anything.

My trainer called me today and it’s just what I needed.  I’ve been in a rut and not in a good way.  I think most of it had to do with worrying about getting a job in time before my unemployment ran out, which would have been IN 2 WEEKS!!!  So now i’m super pumped and possibly thinking about another KY Muscle show in November :D   My mind is a yo yo with these competitions.  Sometimes I think they are a bad idea and other times I get super excited!  I’m mainly excited for a meetup with Angela!

A rare find and back to school

I start my day off with some cardio…ahhhh…I feel so much better.  I did the bottom workout and then walked at a 10% incline for 10 minutes followed by a 5 min cooldown both at 3.5 mph.  It was a good one and i’m still sweating after my shower.

Mike had gotten me a calendar for this year called Poop Puppies.  It really makes me smile every morning.  Look at last weekends.

I walked into my mom’s yesterday and my heart started pounding.  I could smell it.  I could feel it was in there.  I haven’t had it in months.  What is this you ask?  I’ll give you a hint.  My dad used to call me this when I was little.  Keep in  mind what my head would have looked like.  Some lady at my mom’s work had given it to her.  We still can’t find it anywhere in these parts.

WOOHOO!!!!  So this morning I had a pumpkin oat sandwich.

  • 5 egg whites
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 5 shakes cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp guar gum
  • 1 T pumpkin
  • 1/4 cup of oats
  • 1/4 cup of Nutra Fiber

Mmmmm….it was so good.  I’ve got my lunch and snacks all packed for my first day at the new school.

Did you have to change schools alot when you were younger?  I didn’t.  I had the same group of people all the way to graduation.  Speaking of….next time i’m down in Gwood I promise i’ll stop by Amy!!!!!!
