Bum Hurts

Wow…my bum hurts in a good way.  I squatted and lunged my little heart out yesterday.  On top of that during my ending cardio tonight I did incline walking just to twist the dagger a bit more.  LOVE IT!

I did a “carb up” yesterday.  I forgot to give you all that version.  Just take THIS and add 3/4 cup of oats for breakfast and 4 oz of yam for lunch.  I didn’t have the yam yesterday…wasn’t feeling it.

Happenings

Hey everybody!  I’ve really enjoyed this 4 day weekend and it’s not over yet.  Sunday’s always seem long and I love them.

.

Thanksgiving morning I woke up and did 6 miles on the treadmill.  It was an AWESOME workout.  I was sweating out of my elbows which I love.  Then it was off to eat!  I did good until dessert time :)   I really didn’t over eat dessert it’s just that my body isn’t used to real sugar anymore.  I had banana pudding and pumpkin bread.  Odd since there were brownies and dark chocolate chip cookies there as well.  It was so nice to see my family especially my mom and sis.

Friday I was up early to check out online specials.  You won’t find me out on Black Friday…EVER!  I got my dad new pots and pans as requested.  He is easy to shop for.  I just say dad what do you need for Christmas.  It’s either a hug, socks or something like that.  This year it’s new pots and pans.  I know he wants the Walmart version but I got something a little more sturdy.  Mom wants a Shuffle(since she saw mine) or a decline bench with a leg extension(since she saw mine).  I know these are things she wouldn’t use BUT I just think of all the stuff her and dad bought Rachel and I when we were little.

I made my first pumpkin pie.  Of all the things my family forgot to make???  My mom made a pumpkin cake but Mike mentioned he didn’t have any pie so I made him one yesterday :)

Mike said this was the best pie he’s ever had!  No, really..my hubs is VERY honest so if it wasn’t he wouldn’t have said anything.  I’m pretty awesome when it comes to baking.

Recipe I used.  It actually makes 2 pies.

I’m awesome unless i’m making my own recipes.  Remember the Rotel Chicken?  I made an Aprilized version.  It was made with no salt added tomatoes, no sodium chicken broth and some Mrs. Dash seasoning.  It’s still better than my broiled chicken breasts but it wasn’t the same ;)   Sodium rocks unless you have a body like mine and wake up looking swollen.

My Christmas tree is up after searching for our stand for the last 3 days.  The next time we move we’re seriously going to organize better.   We were just anxious to get out of the last craphole.  Now I have PLENTY of room for my tree YAY!

Giving Thanks

Thank you all so much for your comments and emails on my last post.  Blogging is like diary a that talks back with a lot of different perspectives and I love it!

I was saying earlier today that if goat cheese, a bit of creamer and a Kombucha are going to make me swell up then so be it.  Those things are not harmful for my body like fast food.  I can’t imagine what I would look like if I ate crappy.  That is a big peeve of mine.  Probably because I’ve heard my mom say it doesn’t matter what I do I’ll just eat this.  She’ll go on a salad kick and then eat Mexican food on Friday and complain about her body.

The ladies I work with complain of their slow metabolism’s while eating donuts and pie.  I’m sure this is a common practice everywhere.   

I love this girl’s title of her blog.  Happy Is The New Pretty.  How true is that?  I mean who am I to judge a 500 lb person if they are TRULY happy.  I do believe some are.  I can tell you that being thin isn’t the answer to happiness.  I’ve been 140 lbs and 105 lbs.  Was I happier at 105?  My clothes fell off of me and to be honest that makes me happy but not happier. 

So here are the things I’m giving thanks for tomorrow.

My entire family.  I love them all and have only great memories.

My childhood.  I hear so much about people never wanting to go back to their childhood because it was awful.  I had THE best one ever!  My sister and I love to talk about it all the time.

My loving husband.  He puts up with my mood swings and crazy ways.  I can honestly understand why many people get divorced in their mid 30’s to 40’s.  Seriously young en’s…hormones are a beeyotch.  I used to think it was a good excuse but not anymore.

My girl Boomer.  I will never have another dog like her.  She is the best!

My home.  I still can’t believe it’s ours.

Being able to walk let alone do all the exercising I do.

Rotel Crock Pot Chicken

As promised….seriously this stuff is YUMMY!

Rotel Crock Pot Chicken

4 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 can Rotel
1/3 cup chicken broth (can use water as substitute)
1 packet taco seasoning
Soft corn tortillas
2 avocados
1 can black beans
Grated colby jack cheese
Sour cream

Place chicken breasts in Crock Pot. Mix Rotel, chicken broth & taco seasoning and pour mixture over chicken. Cook on low for 8 hours. Shred chicken and stir in remaining Rotel/broth mixture from Crock Pot.

Warm black beans, drain. Mash with fork, leaving mixture chunky. Scoop out contents of avocado & mash, leaving mixture chunky. Mix mashed beans & avocado together & spread evenly on warm tortillas (warm tortillas in pan on stove over med-low heat). Sprinkle with cheese (yes, before the chicken is added!). Add a scoop of chicken mixture and a dollop of sour cream. Roll and enjoy!

The chicken falls apart like an American made car.

Okay, i’m sick of the ups and down.  I need to be realistic.  My body is healthy in the above picture.   There is no need to see bones and ribs although that is what I typically strive for.  I’m going to keep eating clean and running my heart out and not go overboard trying to get to a number that I CAN reach only to gain again.  THAT is my goal.

I am a professional dieter if there is such a thing.  Years of ups and downs is making it hard for me to stay at a consistent weight I believe.  What is my weight anyway?  Who cares.  I’ve been going by the way my clothes feel lately and they feel great!  I have my days where I feel “fluffy” but then I look around the office.  I’m pinching an inch while looking at rolls.  Okay that was wrong but i’m trying to tell myself there is no need to lose anymore.  All this talk is due to the fact that I ate trail mix yesterday.  No, today is my rest day so i’m not cardioing it off.  I did walk Boomer but that’s it.  I’ve got some YUMMY mexican chicken(will post recipe) ready for the Colts game.  I tasted it and I gave myself a pat on the back.  Then Mike tasted it and was smiling all happy.  Why haven’t I cooked chicken in the crockpot before? 

Do you have ups and downs in weight?  Do you think some people just have that sort of body type or what?

IBS Cure?

What a misleading title huh?  There is no cure or known cause for IBS.  This past Saturday I was in agony all morning with stomach pains.  I’m not sure what did it.  It could have been the green onions I threw on my salad I got at Whole Foods?  While I was there I also got a Pumpkin Beer.  When I got home I laid on the couch for awhile and Mike told me I should just try and drink the beer it may help.  I did and my stomach felt MUCH better?  I would prefer just not to have the stomach problems because the whole time I was drinking the beer I was picturing my metabolism slowing down slower than it already is.  I know I’m mental but that’s okay.

When I woke up Sunday I was a little bloated but feeling great anyway.  No harm no foul.  I had a great day with Mike too.  We watched Shrek and then went up to the bedroom to finish watching it before we fell asleep at 9p.  We are a happening couple :)   I love that man.  I also took pictures for Tony.  He said I look even leaner which I don’t believe.  I was a bit bloated but hey, i’ll take it!

No morning cardio!

After work I did this:

10 mins jog 5.5 mph

Total body Circuit workout routine # 2

Exercise #1
Alternating Squat Press 15-20 repetitions
Exercise #2
Dumbbell Fly 8-12 repetitions
Exercise #3
Seated Dumbbell One Arm Triceps Extension 12-15 repetitions on each arm 
Exercise #4
Dumbbell Biceps Curl 8-15 repetitions
Exercise #5
Seated Rear Lateral Raise 8-12 repetitions 
Exercise #6
Double Crunch 8-12 repetitions

Advanced: See how to get a better crunch workout for building six pack abs

Exercise #7
Jump rope for 90 seconds

It should take you about 10 minutes to finish this 7 exercise circuit 1 time

Complete this circuit at least 2 times & no more than 4 times to get a 10-to-20 minute workout.

I did this twice.

10 more mins walking 1 min 4.0, running 1 min 7.5~8.0

Then I walked Boomer for 35 mins enjoying this UNNovember like weather!

EXTREME

So my cable was out this morning when I woke up.  I decided on an oldie but goodie.  After that I checked and cable was back on so I did a 2 mile jog watching the Joy Behar Show.  I’m still killing my workouts although I’m getting bored.  I am doing high rep, light weight circuits and I have to admit I am missing the heavy weights now.  I love the DOMS that come with that.  I think I’ve hit a plateau so I sent an SOS email to my trainer.  He told me he will try and call tonight and he wants pictures this weekend. 

I made Mike some egg salad with my egg boiler again and made myself egg salad.  Literally, egg + salad.

Being a red head is good when you find a hair in your food and you know it’s yours.  On the flip side the short black one you HOPE is your dog’s.  We have tumbleweeds of black hair in the kitchen.  It’s time to sweep again.  This weather is making us both shed like crazy.

At lunch today I bought this:

Apple iPod shuffle 2 GB Digital player - 2 GB flash - Orange

Tonight after work I did Hardcore Extreme.  I did the first chaper.   I just love her videos for a change up.

Can you sew?  I don’t know when or who taught me but I can sew a button or hem pants.  My grandma used to work in a sewing factory so maybe it’s in the blood?

I liked it!

Zumba that is.  It was a nice change up from what i’m used to.  I will consider yesterday as my rest day.  It was fun but not as intense as I like.  I did sweat and my HR got up but I like the feeling like your going to hurl workouts.  The instructor was great because her name was April LOL!  No really, she was awesome and very peppy.  I must say that I rocked at Zumba!  You have to be a bit coordinated and my experience in the color guard and dance when I was younger helped out I believe.  Not to mention i’ve been doing step aerobics since I was 14 :D

.

I do have to say people that when she says SQUAT and LUNGE you are supposed to get low and it will hurt.  Most people wimped out ;)   I guess squatting lots of weight helped me in that department.

Yesterday Mike and I went shopping for him.  He also took me to Whole Foods where I bought a salad for my dinner and he bought a Kombucha for me!  I never thought he would buy that LOL!  He bought new earrings for me too.  Why?  Because I got Associate of the Month at work!  WOOT!

This morning I went shopping for myself.  I first did some grocery shopping and then headed to Kohl’s.  I’ve been feeling fluffy lately.  I know, I know…but it happens.  I ended up buying 3 shirts, a purse and some “skinny” jeans in a size 4 double WOOT!  I’m not a skinny jeans type of girl but i’m going with it.  Kelly would be proud of my latest purchases.  She is my fashion muse.  Her outfits are so cute!

Now i’m off to do some cardio.  I think i’ll do Cathe’s Core Circuit.  I would LOVE to take her classes in person.  She whips my butt at home!

I’m going to take my first ever Zumba class today.  I’ve seen the videos of all the sexy people dancing and looking all hot shaking their hips and it looks fun!  Unfortunately i’m sure it will be more like this:

Taking a Break

Not from blogging.  From my workout tonight.  I’m going to do Cathe’s Body Max 2 instead!  You know I love step aerobics and I wasn’t looking forward to my scheduled workout so I’m changing it up.  I did 50 mins of cardio this morning.  I tried to sleep in but couldn’t stay in bed.  I’m thinking about giving Zumba a whirl this weekend!  I can’t wait!  I’m starting to reform into a cardio bunny again.  That’s okay.  Building muscle is fine and fun but I like fitting into small shirts and when your lats are getting bigger things don’t fit as well.

Okay…maybe that’s exaggerating.

I got a call from the doctor’s office today.  I had an appt 11/23 and they asked if I wanted to come in tomorrow.  I really hope this new one can fix some of my “issues”.  I have high hopes.

Over the river and through the woods, to grandma’s house we go.  She loves a long car ride.  We actually heard her snoring.

Who’s your favorite Muppet?  I’ve always like Animal.  Maybe cause i’m kind of crazy?  I still have my shoe biters.

Holy Moly where has this gadget been?

Dining chairs, deep freezers, comforters, you name it and CSNStores.com has  it.  I did a little online shopping last week.  Here’s what I got:

A roasting pan

A broiler pan

An egg boiler

Rachael Ray spoonulas(intransit)

This egg boiler is AWESOME!!!!  I made Mike egg salad this weekend.  You all know redhead + peeling eggs doesn’t mix.  I have NO patience for that and have in fact flung eggs across the room before.  So I tested it out and the shells come off like a prom dress.  I was so happy.  Hard boiled eggs make the easiest snacks.
