===========================

I’m just above Indianapolis there.  *sigh*  They already called of work tomorrow and Wednesday but i’ll be going.  I don’t run production but I plan production and a planner’s job is never done.  We will risk life and limb to keep our business going.  Okay…seriously I won’t get paid if I don’t go :)

.

I’m stocked up on water, batteries, cell phone is charged, candles and matches and we’ll fill the tubs full of water tonight in case we need them to flush the toilets.  Tell me why I live in Indiana again?  I’ll still be able to make protein shakes if the power does go out because my car has an outlet in it hee hee!

.

Have you ever been through an ice storm?  I have but when I was younger it didn’t really bother me.  As i’m typing this all I hear is tap tap tap of ice rain outside.  Ice sucks, I’d much prefer snow.

You ate what? Phase 1

I loved all the pear shaped responses :)   Some love it, some don’t.  Jody mentioned there are things you can do to help your pear shape.  I have widened my shoulders to look broader so that i’m more of an hourglass.  However, I still don’t have boobs.  Just don’t get too wide or you won’t fit into your size S shirts.

.

What did this girl eat?

pictures of the food pyramid, basic food groups, bread, cereal, rice and pasta group, bottom level of the food pyramid, basic nutrition information

Oh yes, this stuff was LOW IN FAT.  NO FAT = THIN right?

I wouldn’t go near a nut if you paid me.  Now fats are my friends and enemies.  I think restricting them when I was younger tends to lead me to over eat them.  I can’t have a jar of almonds or a jar of peanut butter in my house.  Individual servings are my friends.

What are some of the crazy way you tried to get thin?

What is your favorite vegetable?  Gah, that’s a hard one.  I’ll say green beans then broccoli.

Pear dressing

HA!  Fooled you.  This is not a post about dressing with pears although that does sound pretty good.  I’m talking about dressing for your pear shape.  Being pear shaped is not a bad thing.  As a matter of fact it’s safe and healthy if you are within your weight range.

Not sure if you’re a pear?

  1. Is the gap in the waist of your pants is bigger than your bra cup size?
  2. Are pencil skirts your arch enemy?
  3. Do you like being in a bikini…top.? You don’t leave your beach chair without a sarong to cover your bottom half.
  4. Have you perfected the getting-out-of-the-pool-pulling-on-your-towel move so well some people think you swim with the towel around your bottom?
  5. Do you consider your theme song to go something like “I like big butts and I cannot lie”?

If you laughed and nodded while reading those then you are a pear :)

Drawing attention upwards:

  • Always wear slim fitting tops, sweaters, cardigans and button down shirts. Choose styles that define your waist and show off your torso – never opt for anything boxy.
  • Select styles with wide cuffs and bell sleeves. Choose embellishment, rushing, seaming detail, large collar/lapels and princess lines. This automatically balances out the wider bottom part of you by drawing attention upwards.
  • The length of your tops should always catch you on your hipbone. Avoid lengths that finish straight over your bottom. Avoid tops that stop just on or above your waist. This emphasizes your disproportionate top to bottom ratio.
  • LAYER your garments. The layers create a visual balance between the top and bottom half of your body
  • You are the girl that looks best in shirts, girly blouses, and jackets. You look fabulous in jackets and coats and your wardrobe should be plentiful of these!
  • Wear A-line wrap tops & dresses – they emphasize your upper body, and accentuate your feminine décolletage, while slimming down the wider part of you. Look for dresses that have top detail. Avoid sheath dresses at all costs.
  • Accessorize the top part of your body well eg. necklaces, specs, earrings, hair clips (but not all together!)

“De-emphasizing” the bottom and elongating your legs:

  • Keep your bottom choices plain and simple thereby saving all the visual interest for your tops.
  • Keep the hems of your pants wide, boot cut or flared. Pants that just skim along the contour of your thighs always work best and back pockets are essential. Simple rule:  the curvier your bottom, the longer and wider you’ll need to wear your pants and the higher you’ll need to wear your heel to balance out your silhouette.
  • Keep all your bottoms structured – no drawstrings, no front pleats and no elastic.
  • Keep the top front part of your pants free of detail .You do not want to attract attention to an area that is not your best. Side entry pockets are fine, and so is detail at the bottom of your pants e.g., turn ups, embroidery and slits. Stay away from combat pants or anything with cargo pockets on them.
  • If your pants fit you perfectly everywhere else but not on your waistline, have them altered.
  • A-line skirts are best. They should be knee-length or just below. Stay clear of bias-cut skirts and pencil skirts.
  • Wear pointy toe shoes with pants that are wide at the hem – this will make your legs look longer and slimmer.
  • Wear heels whenever you can as this will help your legs look longer and create balance. Wear enough heel height to elongate the vertical line you are trying to create. If you wear boots with  skirts, they should always be long and emphasize your slim ankle.

What shape are you?  Any other gorgeous pears you can think of?  I have spent all my life wishing I was apple shaped.  You know, no hips, skinny legs, then I realized that will NEVER happen.  It’s sort of like wishing you have curly hair when you have straight hair.  I’m not trying to hide what I am.  I answered yes to all 5 of those questions and knew exactly what they were talking about.

He is an old Japanese man :)   He’s always got apples and bananas and yogurt in his goody cabinet.  I am serious about the yogurt.  He doesn’t keep it in the fridge.  Maybe it’s an old Japanese secret?

I just find it funny what others snack on compared to most Americans.

By looking at my snack drawer at work you’d think my New Years resolution would be to eat MORE junk food…. Ugh.

No this is not my drawer.  I get asked just about everyday if I want cookies or someting else someone has brought in.  Of course I WANT it but i’m not going to eat it.  I have come to a point in my lifestyle where I know that the cookie is just going to make me want more and it will not fill me up or give me what my body needs.  I’d much rather fill up on vegetables.

What’s in your snack drawer?  Mine has 100 calorie almond packs.

Runner’s High

I will again state that I don’t consider myself a runner BUT…I do get runner’s high every now and again.  Isn’t it the best feeling?  Like you could just run forever.  Thanks to this workout my morning started off fantastic!

55:00-60:00 2.5% 3.5

The only change I made was warming up at 5.0 and jogging at 5.5 until min 53.

.

Nothing exciting going on really.  Mike and I went out to eat and a really nice Italian restaurant where the chef is a 7 year winner for the best lasagna in Indianapolis.  I had the grilled chicken salad so nothing Italian for me ;)   We also went and saw Black Swan.  Natalie Portman ROCKS in that movie.  I always knew she’d be a star ever since I saw her in Beautiful Girls many moons ago.

How cute was she?

Have you ever had runner’s high?  Do you love it?

Boston Bound

Boston Massachusetts

Mike booked our flight and hotel for the Boston Marathon this week!  It’s real now.  We won’t have long to spend there because I have to return to work on Wednesday.  The marathon is ran on a Monday.  Isn’t that weird?  I’ve not been to the east coast so I am excited!  Now we need to find our suitcases.  I also may do a little online shopping and get a laptop messenger bag.  I’m really loving my new laptop although with the lack of my blog posts you might not think i’m using it often.

.

My workouts are going great.  I’ve been doing some serious HIIT.  30 seconds all out and 30 secs moderate pace.  It’s tough but what I need.  My trainer is making me out a new meal plan.  He thinks i’m undereating and he’s probably right.  For the amount of activity I do I need more.  Hopefully i’ll see changes after this.

.

I’m going to do a product review for you all for CSN Stores.com.  I love doing these and letting you know about tried and true products.  This time I will review an exercise ball.  These are so good for your entire core in general.  I’ll give you some moves and tips on using one.  These are very inexpensive and great to have for your home gym.

Red’s Bed and Breakfast

//

Bed and Breakfast logo

What a GREAT weekend I had!  Our friends from Alabama stayed with us Friday and Saturday night.  This makes me want to run a bed and breakfast.  I had so much fun fixing breakfast and just talking with them.

Saturday morning I made a breakfast casserole and Sunday biscuits and gravy.

2006_11_gravy.jpg

The best part of the weekend was instead of worrying about eating and working out I just relaxed and enjoyed myself.  My mind was free.  No, I still had my food but just went with the flow.  I need more weekends like this.

I didn’t once think of my fat, or how awful I feel about myself.  I know these are shallow things to think but sometimes I just get in these moods.

.

Now I didn’t worrying about exercising but I did while they were at their parents.  I did P90X Plyos and man, my calves and quads are still sore.  It was a good one!

.

Do you like the movie Boondock Saints I know random question, but we’re watching it.  I love it!

GYMBOSS review

I was sent a GYMBOSS to review for you and I couldn’t be happier with a product than I am right now.

Where has this been?  I love this little gadget!  You know I love intervals and they couldn’t get any more fun with this.

You can have the GYMBOSS set to vibrate or beep your choice.  The fun part is going to get Boomer trained to run and walk when she hears the beeps.  If you have any questions let me know!

WHY GYMBOSS?

Price: at only $19.95, the Gymboss is much more affordable compared to other watches/timers that can cost well over $100.

Size: the Gymboss is the size of a pager, so it can go wherever you go. Whether you’re traveling for business and don’t feel like sitting in your hotel room or you want to exercise at the beach, this timer takes up very little space.

Features: if you are interval training or using a stopwatch for sprints, the Gymboss has you covered as it provides both functions.

Accuracy: why worry about constantly looking at the clock to see when to resume your workout? Gymboss allows you to precisely time your work-to-rest time ratios, allowing you to concentrate on your muscle group instead of the clock.

Goals: whether you want to shed pounds or increase your reps in a given time period, this timer will help you reach your fitness objectives.

Simplicity: the Gymboss offers a simple, easy to use 3-button setup that allows you to quickly change interval times for different workouts.

Alarms: the timer has a vibration function that lets you know when to start and stop, even when using headphones or an ipod.  Gymboss also has a long  as well as short beeper alert for when you’re in a noisy gym.

Time constraints: accurate timing gives your workout structure within the workout, thus giving you control of the overall duration of each session. This leaves you more time for  many of the other things life may throw at you.

Some people got it…..

Some people don’t :)

.

That’s Kaden!  Him and his family are coming to stay with us this weekend.  Driving up from Alabama.  Mike scored some playoff tickets for the Colts.  I love this couple.  They are so full of love and positive energy.

.

I’d be lying if I said I was chill with it.  I’m freaking out about not having EVERYTHING planned…you all know me by now.

.

BTW…Kaden doens’t do hours upon hours of cardio or lift heavy weights.  His momma is from Alabama and KNOWS how to cook!

2011

Happy New Year!  I’m off today YIPPEE!  How did you spend New Year’s Eve?  Mike and I went to bed at 9p. HA!

.

This is going to be a great year.  We have some fun house projects in our minds, i’m going to the Arnold in March, and then we’re going to Boston in April.

Now I have to confess something.  First it was Jersey Shore.  I just HAD to watch it and couldn’t stop.  Now it’s Bridalplasty.  It’s so wrong but i’m addicted.  Have you heard of this show?

A group of engaged girls are competing to have their dream wedding.  Each girl has an insecurity they wantto fix.  For ex. nose job, boob job, liposuction or some other body part they feel bad about.  Each week the girls compete for top bride and the winner gets plastic surgery.  It’s pretty ridiculous.  A girl also gets eliminated each week and at the end the hostess says…Your wedding will go on it just won’t be perfect LMAO!!!

.

Oh yes, we had an earthquake last Thursday.  We don’t have many here so it was pretty cool.  I was in the office and the building shook just a bit.  We all looked at eachother like WTFudge was that?

Have you felt an earthquake?  For those of you in California I know it’s pretty much like snow falling in Decemeber here.
